Now that almost all the snow is gone the ski season is coming to a close and we are excited to take our bikes out again. We decided to go on a mountain bike ride up in the mountains and luckily our friend was able to drive us there instead of us having to bike all the way up. When we got to the top Knapp's Castle trail we took in the view and started our fast decent. This was my first time riding this trail but the others had ridden it many times before. The beggining of the trail was very wide and fast but it quickly became a lot narrower. There were some really tight turns that surprised me and almost messed me up so I went a bit slower through the narrow section. This trail was not very rocky but there were some sections that had quite a bit of rocks. We rode through some really cool scenery and went down a very steep hill that was very fun. We also went off some jumps and then hiked back up the trail to hit the jumps again. Then we hit a swampy creek section that we had to walk through and we got all of our shoes and socks soaking wet. The remainder of the trail was easy but as I was speeding down the trail I hit a loose rock and fell over scraping my elbow and my knee. I was mad after I fell because I fell on a very easy section and it was annoying to be all scraped up. We finally got to the parking lot where our friend picked us up and took us all home. This was a very fun trail and it might even be one of my favorites.
We decided to make a quick trip up to Mammoth Mountain this weekend and boy was it worth it. They got around a foot of fresh snow the day before and it gave us the best runs of the season. In the morning we skid the lower runs while they were still opening the lifts and it was some great snow, especially for spring skiing. We were skiing great pow runs down Brodway for a bit when we saw people lining up at chair 23. Chair 23 is the lift that goes to the top so this lift has the best snow possible after a good storm. We got in line and waited. We waited for a while and contemplated if it was worth waiting because there was a chance that the chairlift would never even be open that day. We say people hike up the mountain and ski amazing runs down. We wanted to go ski but we stayed in line in hopes that it would open. Many people around us left and it got us almost all the way to the very front of the line. About an hour and 3 phone calls later they decided to open it up. We were on the 3rd chair up meaning we would get the best snow possible since it would basically untouched. We got off the lift as fast as we could skid an amazing run with some of the best snow I have skid in my life. We skid more and more runs and as the snow got skid out we found new secret lines where the snow had not been touched. Even the next day gave us some really great soft snow all day and this trip was definitely worth the 6 hour car ride.
Today the AngelSkis team took a trip heli skiing in the Alaskan alps. Here we got to experience some truly untouched snow and it was probably the greatest moments of our lives. We spent almost all day taking runs after runs down these steep and fun mountains. We tested our limits and did things we've never done before. We are grateful that we got to take this amazing trip and we would do it again any time.
Today was yet another busy day in the shop. Were preparing to release our new 2022 ski line that is even more advanced than the last. We are spending everyday braisntorming new ways to advance the sport of skiing and we are proud to see our work being put to good use. Thank you to everyone who uses and supports our industry.
We are happy to announce that we have developed a new combination of carbon fiber and wood that allows for the perfect flexibility and stiffness. We have wrapped the crabon fiber in string like shapes around the wood core. This allows us to change the amount of carbon fiber in any part of the ski while still keeping its stability strong. This means that any part of the ski can be as stiff as you would like making the perfect ski for anyone a possibility. We are excited to break this news and will release updates in the future.
